HYDRO_AS-2D | Description


HYDRO_AS-2D is a versatile and reliable software for the 2D simulation of flowing waters and the surface runoff of precipitation. It is based on the numerical solution of the shallow water equations using the Finite-Volume-Method.

HYDRO_AS-2D provides script-driven simulations: Thus, model data can be changed, queried, output or read in during the simulation. Thus, very complex control processes can be modeled in water management systems.

HYDRO_AS-2D has a wide range of applications including:

HYDRO_AS-2D | Scripting

With HYDRO_AS-2D you can replicate very complex control processes in water management systems. The current version offers script-controlled simulations: Thus, model data can be changed, queried, exported or imported during the calculation. The technical basis is the widely used scripting language Lua.

HYDRO_AS-2D thus provides a foundation on which users can creatively develop their own new applications.

HYDRO_AS-2D | Extensions

You can use the following extensions to model additional processes or edit your modeling data efficiently.


The solid matter transport simulation model HYDRO_FT-2D extends HYDRO_AS-2D to include transport processes (suspended matter and bedload).


HYDRO_WT-2D simulates the heat transport in flowing waters analogous to the transport of pollutants.


Mesh-generator based on LIDAR-data for intelligent thinning of data and deriving of terrain edges.

Stream Network Generator

Efficient generating of 2D meshes for river channels. The Stream Network Generator uses profile plot data and information on the shoreline for this purpose.
